A community-focused gymnastics club has moved into a new facility in Edington thanks to donations and local support.
Gaia Gymnastics and Wellness opened at its new base in Edington Station Yard on Monday 4th May following months of crowdfunding and weeks of renovations.
“We have been lucky to have some great supporters who have donated time, money and materials for free to help us get into the building,” said Janna Baker, one of the club’s directors.
The club offers recreational gymnastics, trampolining and parkour classes regardless of age or ability, with a focus on wellbeing. It currently runs small classes which are popular with SEND children, and directors hope the larger facility will allow them to expand provision across the community and offer more one-to-one sessions for those who need them.
Director Chris Lee said, “With this new location, we will be able to support local schools by enhancing their PE curriculum and helping them access specialist coaching, as well as providing structured physical activity for homeschooled children.”
The club received financial donations from Westbury Lions Club, Westbury Area Board and the Wiltshire Area Sports Partnership to help fund a sprung floor and new equipment.
Local people and businesses, including TJ Gillmans, Elias Carpets, Frome Flooring Centre, White Horse Windows and Doors, BCJ Services Ltd, Hawk Exterior and Gemma Cooper, also donated time and materials to support the move.
