DURING the week commencing 3rd February National Libraries Week took place.
Westbury library held many different activities and events in aid of the week which included blind date with a book, teddy rhyme time, local history talk and a comments board.
Blind date with a book encouraged people to take home a book which was wrapped up so they had no way of knowing what the book was.
Therefore encouraging readers to try a book that they might not usually pick up.
Teddy rhyme time allowed 0-3 year olds the opportunity to bring their teddys along to sing and join in with some nursery rhymes, action songs, bouncing and clapping.
A comments board was put up in the library allowing visitors to write a comment about what it is about their library that they love the most.
The week of celebrations drew to an end on National library day on Saturday 8th. The day rounded off a week’s worth of celebrations in schools, colleges, universities, and public libraries across the UK.
For Westbury library the week ended on a high by guest speaker, Steven Hobbs providing a talk on the local history.
Steven is a local archivist from the history centre and his talk gave visitors the chance to listen to a fascinating talk and to learn about the history of Westbury.
