Westbury travelled to play Goatacre in their latest West of England League Wiltshire and Gloucestershire Premier 2 Division match, for the first time since 2011 hoping to continue their winning run this season.
Westbury made one change from last weeks win against Chippenham with James Hudson coming in for the injured Tom Lucas.
Goatacre won the toss and with heavy rain forecasted later and decided to field first.
Westbury opened with Hudson and Whiting and they made a strong start with Whiting the dominant batsman, but when the total reached 43 Goatacre struck and Whiting was dismissed LBW for 32. Shortly after being joined by Varley, Hudson was bowled for 10 with the total at 49. Varley was then joined by Dickinson and they started scoring quickly and took the total to 117 when Varley was adjudged to be LBW for an impressive 46. After the drinks break Goatacre struck twice with the total going from 117 to 146 with Coles (9) and Dickinson (29) both being dismissed. Coles was replaced by Mills who was then joined by the Westbury captain, Senneck and they had a good partnership of 32 in 9 overs. When the total reached 178 for 5 wickets, heavy rain swept across the ground then settled in for the rest of the afternoon.
With Cheltenham beating Biddestone Westbury have dropped to second place, seven points behind the new league leaders Cheltenham.
Next week Westbury are at home against Gloucester City Wingate, starting at 1230pm.
