MATRAVERS School recently came runner-up at the Education Business Awards in the ‘Outstanding Progress – Secondary School’ category.
The award is presented to the UK Secondary School that has made outstanding progress in the management of its facilities, finances and human resources and can demonstrate an increase in the educational performance of the school.
87 schools from across the UK were represented at the ceremony, which took place at the Grange Hotel in London, on the 8th July.
The award comes after the hard work of the headteacher, staff, pupils and governors was commended in their last Ofsted report, in which they were given a ‘good’ rating.
The report praised the headteacher, Dr Riding, for his ‘outstanding leadership’, the quality of teaching throughout the school, and on students’ behaviour and progress.
At the awards ceremony, Matravers School was ‘commended’ for the rapid improvements driven by their outstanding leadership.
Dr Riding commented, “This comes at the end of a superb year for Matravers School. We are delighted to have secured the school’s first “Good with Outstanding features” Ofsted judgement. Coupled with significant improvements in facilities and a new school uniform on the horizon, it is clear that students have a great deal to be proud of.”
