Matravers school in Westbury is keen to appoint a new governor representing the community.
The governors are responsible for setting the school’s vision, which currently is “Creating the best opportunities for all those in our Matravers family”, including staff.
The board of governors inputs to the curriculum chosen to achieve that as well as approving the financial budget underpinning it. Through the school year the board of governors monitors the school’s achievement towards that vision as well as its performance against the agreed budget.
The board consists of governors from the community, parents and staff.
If you are passionate about maximising the opportunities for Westbury’s young people then this is a real opportunity to make a real contribution towards achieving it.
You don’t need any special qualifications but should be able to work effectively in a team.
Your commitment involves a few hours each month for meetings etc. which are usually held early evenings in the school. There is the occasional, daytime school visit to gain first hand knowledge of how the school is performing.
If you are interested then please contact the clerk to the governors, Jess Yeatman on jyeatman@matravers.wilts.sch.uk
