HEAD of dance at Matravers School, Gemma Richards, was recognised for her dance teaching practice when she was presented with the ‘Outstanding Secondary Dance Teaching Award’ at the One Dance UK Awards Ceremony on Sunday 16th July.
The school says, “Gemma is currently head of dance at Matravers School and this award is richly-deserved recognition of her outstanding teaching practice, her passion for dance and her dedication to the subject and all of her students.
“Dance continues to flourish at Matravers, with highly successful and popular GCSE and A-level dance courses, excellent dance provision throughout key stages 3, 4 and 5 and a vast range of enrichment activities for students across the school. The quality of work that the students produce within the dance department is truly outstanding and Gemma’s teaching and leadership of the subject contribute significantly to their success.”
