Students at Matravers School impressed audiences with their recent production of Legally Blonde The Musical, which featured a special performance from a local dog.
Head of drama Rebecca Walker praised the cast and crew for their professionalism, who put on the full version of the show rather than the usual school adaptation. “Everything in this show was big, bold and incredibly fun. Night after night I heard people’s shock and surprise at discovering the lead of the show is only in Year 10! The response from our audiences was amazing,” she said.
The production also raised £685 for Guide Dogs UK, a charity that provides assistance dogs. Wilbur, a dog owned by local fundraiser Hilary Reed, starred in the show as Rufus. “Wilbur was absolutely brilliant, adding yet another moment of wonder to the show,” said Rebecca.
“As a creative team, we are incredibly proud of our students’ efforts and achievements; throughout the process of producing high-quality performances we see friendships blossoming, skills developing, a family growing. At the end of all their hard work, they were rightly rewarded with rip-roaring applause and standing ovations.”
She also thanked the show’s sponsors for their support: MJ Building South West, Platinum Hyundai Trowbridge, Beauty at Home, Matt Curtis Photography, FT Chronic Pain Solicitors, FSM Solicitors and The Healing Touch Wellness Therapy.
