THE Mayor of Westbury is preparing to take on more challenges to raise money for charity, just weeks after running the Bath Half Marathon.
Cllr David Windess will do a parachute jump at Netheravon airfield on Saturday 26th April before taking on another half-marathon in September – this time in Bristol.
He recently finished the Bath Half Marathon in 2 hours 13 minutes – his first half-marathon event and despite having no previous experience as a runner. The mayor says he is already looking forward to taking to the skies and leaping out of a plane.
“I thought it would be a great way to end my year as mayor as that is due to end on Monday 12th May and also it helps to raise the profile of Westbury as part of the remit for mayor.
“I am actually quite looking forward to it!”
The mayor has been raising money this year for his chosen charities -Macmillan, Bath Cats and Dogs Home and Imperial Charity and they will also benefit from his parachute jump.
