Members of Dilton Marsh Mothers’ Union had a wonderful day in July joining other Mothers Unions in a visit to St Mary and St Nicholas Parish Church, Wilton.
This Italinate Church has a rich heritage dating back to the Anglo Saxons and it was here that members across the diocese met together in a Service of Celebration and Commitment. They were joined by Worldwide President Lynne Tembey to worship together and see the many exhibits from all the deaneries showing the material used to promote the work of Mothers Union during ‘Walk a Week’ raising much needed funds. Dilton Marsh chose the ‘Angel Tree Project’ which gives support to children of prisoners and their families.
The Angel Tree which members erected in the church held amongst the decorations messages from some of the prisoners whose children had received Christmas gifts. Joining those messages were prayers and wishes written by those who stopped by to admire the display and ask about the work of Mothers Union.
The service was co-ordinated by president Ann Howard who has now completed her 130 mile walk which she spoke of as ‘A Pilgrim’s Story’.
