A FAMILY from Westbury has thanked two local charities for donations which helped buy their little girl a special needs trike.
Westbury Lions and Westbury League of Friends together donated £1,500 towards the cost of the trike which will help five year-old Mia Blaxall build muscle strength in her legs.
Mia’s dad, Lee Blaxall said, “We wanted the trike to give Mia independence and help build muscle strength in her legs.
“I approached Westbury Lions asking if they would be able to help, which they agreed to and Peter Baker also then approached the League of Friends. The trike cost £1,978 and the charities kindly donated £1,500.
“We were surprised, but very grateful for their very generous donation. It’s very early days, but it will hopefully get her stronger and help her feel more included when playing with more able-bodied peers.
“Mia most definitely enjoys the trike but unfortunately Mia recently fractured her knee, so won’t be able to ride for a while now.”
Peter Baker from Westbury Lions said, “Mia has had a lot to face in her young life, so we were more than happy to help as we know what a difference it will make.”
