THERE’S something for everyone coming up at Frome Memorial Theatre in the next few weeks, with dance, live music, and a quiz kicking off the bill in July.
This Friday, 1st July, Fury’s Tornados will be playing their show ‘Halfway to Paradise: the Billy Fury Story’ in tribute to 60s legend Billy Fury, described as ‘Britain’s own Elvis’.
Billy’s own original band replay live his 29 timeless hits including ‘Last Night Was Made For Love’, ‘Wondrous Place’, ‘I Will’, ‘Jealousy’, ‘Halfway To Paradise’ and many more. With Billy being there too on giant movie screen, the atmosphere will be both electric & emotional.
Tickets cost £20.50 (£19.50 concessions) and the show starts at 7.30pm.
Then on Friday 8th July the theatre will host its own quiz night in aid of the Memorial Theatre Boiler Fund. Doors open at 7pm and teams of up to four are welcome at £10 per team.
Food and drink will be available at the bar, and there will be a raffle and prizes for the winners and runners-up.
That Sunday, 10th July, county performing arts school Danceworks will return to the theatre with its end of year spectacular ‘One Night Only’.
Expect sensational performances celebrating the school’s senior students’ farewell. The show will also include performances from the Hip Hop, ‘In the Spotlight’, and Popworks students, plus numbers from Bugsy Malone, Swan Lake, Michael Jackson, High School Musical, Little Mix, and Chicago.
Tickets are £10 each (£8 concessions) and the show starts at 3pm.
Then on Saturday 23rd July singer and impressionist Joe Longthorne will be singing songs from his extensive back-catalogue.
Joe’s endless repertoire of voices includes hundreds of top singers. He is perhaps best known for his impersonation of Shirley Bassey who herself commented, ‘Joe can do me better than I can do myself’.
Joe has received gold and platinum discs for his albums, & enjoyed sell-out concerts at the Royal Albert Hall. Now he is looking forward to new challenges, new songs, and new audiences to thrill.
Tickets cost £22 and the show starts at 7.30pm.
Tickets for all events are available from the Memorial Theatre between 9.30am and 1pm Monday to Saturday, on 01373 462795, or online at www.fmt.website
