Friendly 20/20 match. Westbury versus Frome at Westbury on Wednesday 9th June
WESTBURY entertained Frome in the latest midweek 20/20 match. Westbury were led by Jayden Edmund who had been appointed the new midweek captain.
Westbury won the toss and they decided to bat first. They opened with James Haggaty and Chris Thompson who took the total to 12 when Haggaty was caught by Andrew Veal off the bowling of Ethan Cox for 10. Shortly after Thompson was dismissed, caught by Wigzull for 6 with the total at 17.
With Scott and Dilena at the wicket, Westbury scored at a rapid rate, but when the total reached 52 Dilena was dismissed, bowled by the Frome spinner Shane Ford for 15. Jayden Edmund, the newly appointed captain then carried on the fine form that he showed the previous Saturday at Corsham and with the lower order, took Westbury to a par score of 126 for 9 wickets off their allotted 20 overs. Edmunds was last out for 52 off 39 balls.
When Frome batted, they lost three quick wickets for 41 but with Jon Dredge at the wicket they had a chance. But with his dismissal for 53 and the total at 108 Frome lost their chance of a win. At the end of their allotted overs Frome accumulated 111 for 6 leaving Westbury winners by 15 runs.
Matt Bracher had the best figures (2 for 17 off 4 overs) ably supported by the Westbury captain (2 for 18 of 4 overs).
