Westbury’s West Wilts Youth Sailing Association will be offering an adult sailing course in April and May this year.
Emily Abbot from the club said, “The course is run over four Saturdays and is an all-day activity from 9.30am – 4.30am.
“It follows the RYA adult syllabus and hopefully participants will obtain their Level 1 and 2 over the four weeks. The cost is £200 with no specialist kit needed as that will all be provided. Anyone interested should email me at membership@wwysa. org.uk.”
Junior members are always welcome from the age of eight and they sail during the evenings beginning in April until the end of September, on a weekly basis. Spaces for these evenings are limited, so if you are interested get in touch. There is a lot more information available on the website – www. wwysa.org.uk – or please email Emily any questions at membership@wwysa. org.uk
West Wilts Youth Sailing Association is based at the lake close to Westbury Railway Station. Its primary aim is to introduce young people between the ages of 8 and 18 to the sport of sailing.
Starting in 1967, the group had just three boats and a group of keen volunteers. Forty years on, it now has 19 boats, two safety boats and a team of RYA qualified instructors so are able to offer sailing tuition to approximately 100 children per week throughout the season.
