WESTBURY’S new community engagement manager is settling into his role and is hoping to become a familiar face in the town.
Liam Cripps has taken on the role following the retirement of Sally Hendry, and will now be helping to address issues raised by people in the Westbury area.
Liam said, “What I am really looking forward to is actually getting out into the community, meeting with people and groups and progressing local initiatives. I want to be that ‘go-to-person’ in the Westbury community.
“I am aware of the fabulous work that the former community area manager was involved in and I send a huge thank you to Sally Hendry – you will certainly be a tough act to follow!
“I’m looking forward to seeing Sally continue to be involved in community work and I hope she is already enjoying her retirement.
“My role is about being a local resource for supporting and enabling the community. If people want to build on ideas, enthusiasm and energy in the community, I can offer support in practical ways using community development approaches.
“I look forward to forming lots of positive working relationships with the people of Westbury and surrounding villages.”
Liam has worked for Wiltshire Council for seven years and has been involved with sport, leisure, and learning and development.
As a community engagement manager he will be tasked with helping people to access grants and funding, develop local projects, hold area boards, support local events, and help the council to work at a local level.
