PEOPLE affected by dementia in Westbury will have more support thanks to the appointment of a dedicated dementia adviser for the town.
Nicola Cull has joined the team at Wiltshire charity Alzheimer’s Support following the retirement of a longstanding member of the team who covered both Warminster and Westbury.
As a dementia adviser, Nicola will keep in regular contact with people in Westbury who are living with dementia and their families, providing personalised information on the support, care and services that are available.
With a background spanning 30 years across various roles in the NHS and charitable organisations, Nicola said she found herself growing disillusioned with mounting paperwork, reports and targets that seemed to detract from the real point of service.
Nicola said, “On joining Alzheimer’s Support it was clear from day one that the charity is a family of like-minded people with the same aim – to make a difference at ground level, supporting people individually in the best way they can.”
Head of dementia advisers Diane Barkham said, “Nicola will bring a wealth of experience and skill to the team and will undoubtedly enhance our ability to provide comprehensive care and support to people living with dementia.”
People will dementia in the neighbouring Warminster area will be supported by longstanding dementia adviser David Burton. Both David and Nicola can be reached on 01985 624005.
