THE Rotary Club of Westbury is now offering a new type of flexible membership that will allow people who are unable to join full time, to still become Rotarians and help the local community.
The new associate membership allows people to commit to the club on a part-time basis and learn more about what it means to a Rotarian.
Westbury Rotarian David Pike said, “Westbury Rotary Club has been helping the community for over 60 years, but it is now looking to change with the times.
“With this in mind, there is a need for greater flexibility for those people who understandably wish to give their time first to social and family matters and their occupations.
“The new associate membership offers an opportunity for these people to use their limited amount of free time to take part in fun Rotary activities to help others. Their family members are also welcome to take part.”
Membership is open to anyone over the age of 18 who lives or works in the Westbury area. “There are great potential opportunities in Rotary for personal and career development and we are aiming especially to attract associate members from varied local businesses and organisations.
“These new members will be able to contribute their own thinking and new ideas to what Westbury Rotary Club does in the future.
“We would encourage local businesses to nominate one or two individuals as associate members.”
Membership will involve helping to plan and attend some Rotary events, as well as attending at least six meetings during the 12-month period.
The club will be hosting an open day and a open evening in September and October for anyone interested in finding out more about the associate membership and meeting club members.
