A charity that combats isolation and loneliness is starting a brand new fun social ‘Sing & Smile’ session in Westbury this May.
‘Goldies’, as it has become fondly known, was launched by respected choir leader Grenville Jones in 2008 initially with four fun singing sessions in and around the Bath area.
That number has grown to over 160 sessions across the England and Wales including six Wiltshire based sessions. Sir Cliff Richard is the supportive Patron. Founder Grenville Jones says; “We encourage people to meet up, make friends and sing-a-long to the popular hits of the 50s onwards – including songs from Cliff Richard, Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones and Elvis. You don’t have to be able to sing, just love music and a good giggle. Everyone is welcome.”
The brand new monthly Goldies session is held on the first Tuesday of the month at Westbury Leigh Community Hall. The first session will be held on Tuesday 1st May and the second on Tuesday 5th June. Join in from 2pm till 3pm, bring a friend or tell someone who you feel would benefit from this fun, monthly social activity.
Goldies ask only for a voluntary donation of £2 per person to attend. To find out more about attending this session or for information about other Wiltshire based sessions please call Emma at the Goldies office on 01761 470006, email emma@ golden-oldies.org.uk or visit our website www.golden-oldies.org.uk.
