New-look Recreation Ground

The latest improvements to Bratton Recreation Ground have now been completed.

There is a new tarmac entrance driveway, which prevents water and mud collecting in this area, and the new entrance gates have replaced older ones, that were badly rusting.

Other improvements over the past year have been: the use of 12 tons of sand to fill cracks and improve drainage in the playing surfaces resulting from the actions of moles many years ago; the erection of a fence along the new car park extension; and the purchase of a new line marker for football pitches.

 Bratton’s Parish Council and the Recreation Ground Management Committee say they are very grateful to Westbury Area Board for their grant of £1,500 towards the cost of all these improvements.

 The ground has both adult and junior football pitches, a cricket pitch with six wickets and a large pavilion.  It is used informally by villagers and for league and friendly matches by: Bratton Cricket Club, Westbury Cricket Club, Trowbridge Cricket Club, Westbury United Development Football Club, and Trowbridge Town Football Club Under 15s and Under 13s.  It is estimated that about 120 players regularly use the ground as their home venue, and about 700 players in local visiting teams play there every year.
