WESTBURY United FC has appointed new officials at the club after a switch-up that members hope will keep the teams moving forward.
Both the youth and adult sections of the club held a joint meeting on 2nd November to change the roles of some officers and welcome new ones on board.
The meeting saw Matt Bright step down as chairperson of Westbury Youth so that he can concentrate his efforts on Westbury United. The youth chairperson role has been taken on by Greg Coulson, who has previously held the vice-chair, club secretary and club development officer roles.
Greg said, “On behalf of Westbury Youth I’d like to thank Matt for all his achievements and, along with the various officers that helped him through the years, acknowledge all the good things he has done for Westbury Youth.
“I’m looking forward to carrying on the task with creative thinking and hard work to continuously improve Westbury Youth for the coaches, the players and the parents.
“This is a very exciting time because this is the best relationship the youth and adult club have ever had and going forward it can only get stronger.”
Paula Tucker and Alan Crozier have joined the set up at Westbury Youth as vice-secretary and welfare officer respectively.
Greg continued, “These appointments are to ensure that Westbury Youth has plenty of cover and experience in vital roles going forward. We have formed a team of officers who all bring something unique to the table and that means we are prepared for any challenges that lay ahead.”
Other officer changes saw Martin Pearce step down from his role as Westbury United secretary, with Duncan Sterling taking his place.
“Duncan brings some big ideas to the table,” Greg said. “Where the officers of the club have previously had to concentrate on the functioning and culture of the club, we have put the foundations in place to now see us grow.”
Matt Bright will retain his position as an officer of Westbury Youth due to the club’s constitution requiring both clubs to hold at least one officer position on the other club’s committee.
Martin Pearce will continue his work as media officer and Lottie Bright will continue as merchandise officer for both clubs.
The first of the new events coming to Westbury will be a horse racing night hosted by Sean Brereton on Saturday 3rd December. Tickets are £10 each and it’s recommended that they are bought in advance. To book a place contact cpd@westburyunited.co.uk
The big event of the season will be the formal sports dinner with after-dinner speaking from Hull City AFC legend Dean Windass and comedian/compere Pete Emmett. The dinner will be at the White Horse Country Park on Thursday 2nd February. Several local companies have already supported the event by purchasing tables of ten; tickets are £40 and available from Matt Bright on 07786 333300.
