As always, we have been busy learning new skills and talents at our clubs this year.
Here are just a few of the highlights. In Art Club, we have been creating origami book marks and painting pebbles. These stones were then presented to Foundation School governors across Wiltshire by the diocese. Our Ukulele Club have been honing their skills and performed to a busy church as part the ‘Christmas Tree Festival’ at All Saints’ in Westbury. Our footballers have been training in all weathers and this paid off, with lots of success at a recent inter-school tournament. Our Film Club regulars are becoming quite the experts in all things film and animation.
We ran both Yoga and Dance clubs this year and our dance group performed brilliantly a piece inspired by love at the West Wiltshire Dance Festival in Bath. We assembled a ‘Festive Choir’ who rehearsed very hard this year and performed as part of the video made with local schools singing John Lennon’s ‘Happy Christmas (War is Over)’ which aired at the turning on of the Westbury Christmas lights. In addition to this, they performed a beautiful song ‘Who would imagine a King?’ at the Rotary carol concert.
WJS’s Drama Club are busy rehearsing a play to be performed to the parents in the summer term and our Prayer Council even ran a challenging Q and A session as part of the interview for the new rector of All Saints’ Church. In a bid to discover the next JK Rowling or Tom Fletcher, some of our children have attended our Journalism club and Writers’ workshops this year.
This is just a flavour of some the clubs our children have been enjoying over the past year.
