A Westbury gym will mark its 15th anniversary with a free community event featuring three elite Olympic weightlifters.
Ironworx Performance will host the celebration at its premises on Saturday 11th July from 9am to 3pm.
A weightlifting showcase will take place from 2pm, featuring Jamaica’s James Daley, Great Britain’s Steve Bestman and South Korea’s James Yun-Stevens.
“I want to try and put something on that’s not like anything we’ve ever had,” said gym director Lee Salter, who has previously competed for Great Britain in Olympic weightlifting and won competitions including the Malta Open. “I think it’s going to be really cool to have a couple of international lifters.
“The Commonwealth Games are two weeks after our event, so some of these guys are about to peak for that. I think it will be really cool for the general public to watch.”
The event will also include a partner-based fitness competition testing strength, fitness and work capacity, along with demonstrations of performance and recovery equipment from Helix Human Performance Technologies, plus music and refreshments.
“Reaching 15 years is a milestone we’re incredibly proud of,” said Lee. “What started in 2011 has grown into a fantastic community of people committed to improving their health, fitness and performance.
“This event is our way of celebrating everyone who has been part of that journey, while showcasing some of the exciting things we love, from health, fitness, strength, sport and competition through to performance technology and community.”
The event is free to attend and open to everyone. Ironworx Performance is located at Westbury Industrial Estate.
