A new ‘one stop shop’ website to help people looking for skills and career development has been launched by Wiltshire Council.
Work Wiltshire aims to help people aged 16 and over in Wiltshire who are looking for work, starting a new job, developing their careers, or facing the challenge of redundancy. It also includes a dedicated section on becoming self-employed.
Work Wiltshire has been developed using funds from the council’s Action for Wiltshire Programme, as well as the European Union’s INTERREG IVA Channel Programme.
It is part of Project IMPRESS, a service for those who have recently returned employment, or have just started their first job.
Project IMPRESS can provide emotional and social help during the transition into employment, and support with budget management, childcare and transport.
Other potential features include access to self-help information and employment support workers.
The website will be regularly updated to offer opportunities across Wiltshire, to help local people reach their goals in education and training, employment, or enterprise.
Council leader Jane Scott said, “Work Wiltshire is a new and unique web portal for Wiltshire, and we believe it will become a vital tool for people entering the jobs market.
“Supporting the local economy and doing all that we can to create and safeguard jobs is a key priority for the council. Project IMPRESS is a good initiative helping people in Wiltshire not only back into work but also to achieve their career goals.”
