Preparations are already in full swing for next year’s Dilton Marsh Flower and Handicraft Show, an annual village tradition. The 2025 event is set to take place on Saturday 26th July.
“We’ve selected the classes early this year, so you have plenty of time to make the most of the cosy evenings ahead to create handicrafts, perfect your baking, capture the ideal photograph, plan your garden, and chat with family and friends about entering the ‘Group Display’ class,” said committee member Angie Gibbs.
“We’re excited to welcome both new and returning entrants next year, and we’re hoping for a warmer spring and summer,” she added.
The classes for 2025 include:
Vegetables & fruit: Herbs, broad beans, courgettes, chard, lettuce, potatoes, shallots, tomatoes, windowsill microgreens, display of seasonal vegetables. Gooseberries, plums/gages, rhubarb, display of seasonal fruit.
Flowers: Rose, garden flowers, gladioli, sweet peas, flowering shrubs, potted succulent(s).
Floral art: Arrangement in a teacup and saucer, miniature arrangement, table centrepiece (using fresh or dried materials), dried flower display in a terracotta pot.
Cookery & preserves: Victoria sandwich, Dorset apple cake, Dilton bake-off showstopper cake, homemade savoury bread, homemade sausage rolls, pot of jam, jar of pickled vegetables, homemade alcoholic drink.
Handicrafts: Handmade scarf or shawl (any craft), item of jewellery, picture (any medium), creative matchbox project, decorated tea towel, any other craft.
Photography: Black & white, up close and personal, food glorious food.
Group display: Theme ‘Holiday’.
Under 16s: Party hat, decorated plant pot, colouring picture, photograph – ‘My favourite animal’, any other craft.
