A local police officer has been recognised for his compassion and empathy while responding to a severe mental health crisis in Westbury.
Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Roland Revers was awarded a Chief Constable’s Commendation at the Wiltshire Police Force Awards for his actions while supporting a man in severe mental distress in January 2025.
PCSO Revers is part of the Warminster Neighbourhood Policing Team and is currently covering the Westbury area.
A spokesperson from Wiltshire Police said, “When a man in distress was located on a railway bridge, PCSO Revers spoke with calmness, compassion, and empathy – building trust and guiding him back to safety. His actions that day undoubtedly saved a life.”
The Chief Constable’s Commendation is a prestigious award that is given to officers who go above and beyond, to recognise outstanding policing.
PCSO Revers said, “I am deeply honoured to receive the Chief Constable’s Commendation, and I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has supported me in my role as a Police Community Support Officer.
“The incident recognised in this award was a moment that called for calm, compassion, and humanity. I am thankful that I was able to help bring a vulnerable man to safety, and I am immensely proud of the teamwork and professionalism shown by all my colleagues that day. No officer works alone, and this commendation reflects the strength of the entire Neighbourhood Policing Team at Warminster.

Deputy Chief Constable Mark Cooper presented the award to PCSO Revers at the Wiltshire Police Force Awards at the Police Headquarters in Devizes on Thursday 21st January.
