A POST office for Westbury is one step closer as Post Office Ltd reveals that they have a possible solution to bring the facility back to the town; however plans are currently at an early stage.
It was reported in the last issue of White Horse News that the vacancy was removed from the Post Office Ltd website, with no information available about what is happening next, despite attempts by the town council and White Horse News to find out more.
The removal of the vacancy from the Post Office Ltd website, had sparked fears that the town would be left without a post office.
But following our news story, the vacancy has re-appeared online but with estimated fees of £32,700 – £36,800 when previously it was £90,000, suggesting it is now being advertised as a branch with a lower amount of counter positions.
And now there are fresh hopes that a deal is close to being made to open a new Post Office branch.
White Horse News contacted Post Office Ltd regarding the re-listing to which they responded, “We have a possible solution to re-open a Post Office in Westbury. Plans are at an early stage and we are not yet at the stage where we can share the details of the interested applicant.
“Any relocation would be subject to public consultation. We understand and appreciate how much communities rely on our services and we apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure.
“We are working hard to restore a Post Office service to the area as soon as possible. In the meantime, alternative branches include Bratton, The Ham and Dilton Marsh.”
