Cygnets Pre-school’s ‘Class of 2018′ made a real splash as they enjoyed a water fight and leavers’ party to celebrate the end of term.
Squeals and shrieks could be heard across Leigh Park on 23rd July as children and staff let their hair down and cooled off in the heatwave after a busy year.
The party marked the end of a year of development for the committee-run pre-school, adjacent to Westbury Leigh Primary School, which sees a total of 33 four year-olds moving on to ‘big school’ in September.
Cygnets manager Emma Osmond said, “This year has been one of our best yet, packed with exciting changes and great achievements. We’ve been delighted with the response to the introduction of wrap-around care, offering longer opening hours suitable for working parents, as well as the addition of places for two year-olds. Many of the children leaving us this summer joined when they were just two and it has been wonderful to watch them grow. We are looking forward to welcoming lots of new little ones in the autumn.”
Highlights of the year have included a lively Christmas performance, lessons in different dances from around the world, visits from a local dentist, a successful ‘Wear Pink Day’ and cake sale in aid of local charity Lisa’s Army, and a fun-packed summer outing to the Avon Valley Country Park.
It has also been a year in which several new members of staff were recruited, bringing the total to 13. The pre-school also continued to forge close links with Westbury Leigh Primary School including running a busy schedule of events for those moving up in September’ and upgrades to the setting were made possible by generous grants from the town council.
Emma Osmond said, “Cygnets is continuing to go from strength to strength and we are enormously grateful for the continued support we receive from parents, our committee of volunteers and the local community. Most importantly, thanks must go to our dedicated staff who are very passionate and work extremely hard to nurture every one of the children in our care.”
