THE Friends of Dilton Marsh School (FODS) held a community quiz on Saturday 20th January which raised £661.55.
The funds raised will go towards covering the increasing costs of school trips to help make them more affordable. Trips are organised for each class and include visits to the Tutankhamun exhibition and the Houses of Parliament as well as residential trips.
The Friends say they were “delighted at the popularity”, with 15 teams including school staff, parents and the community enjoying an evening to test their knowledge in the village’s Memorial Hall. Over 50 unwanted Christmas gifts were kindly given for the raffle.
A FODS spokesperson said, “We’d like to thank everyone who came to the quiz; it was a lively evening and there was a great community atmosphere. Thank you to our returning quiz master Tim Bird of White Horse CAD, whose questions were again pitched perfectly.
“It was a hotly contested quiz, with congratulations to the winners, Generation Gap, who won the tie-break question to pip the runners up. We hope they enjoy the chocolate hamper and trophy.
“We know the children enjoy and benefit from the school trips so we’re really happy with the amount raised towards these. We appreciate everyone’s generosity and the efforts of the helpers to make the event happen. Thank you to the school for organising the great experiences.”
FODS is a registered charity and helps organise events and activities for the school. You can search for FODS on Facebook.
