Railway enthusiasts are in for a New Year treat with a specialist talk on the restoration of a Somerset railway.
Westbury Heritage Society is hosting the talk by John Baxter, as part of their annual programme of presentations on local history. John Baxter will be talking about the Somerset and Dorset railway Midsomer Norton.
The Somerset and Dorset railway line was axed as part of the Beeching cuts in the 1960s, but is in the process of restoration thanks to a band of dedicated volunteers. Midsomer Norton now has a heritage centre which recreates its 1950s railways heyday.
The talk on Tuesday 30th January is at the Methodist Church on Station Road in Westbury starting at 7.30pm.
The Westbury Heritage Society runs the visitor centre in the High Street where a host of local history documents, photographs and artefacts can be seen.
