A NIGHT for singles, not a singles night has been running for a few months, with returning friendly faces and new joiners each meeting, providing a time and place for single people to meet.
Meet-up evenings are for single people aged 35/40+ who just want a night out with people who are in the same situation, without the awkward first date, painful introductions and the harsh realities of online dating.
Sarah M, who has been going to the singles night said, “Having recently separated, I was looking for some social meetings with people. This was difficult to find local to me. I saw a poster for a newly set up ‘Singles Night’ and I thought I would give it a try.
“Like anything new, not many people in the first few meets. However, every meeting, new and returning faces were there. Our last meeting had a real buzz, lots of us having a laugh and a chat. I look forward to seeing this group grow.”
Sally G said, “It’s nice to meet up with other singles in a friendly atmosphere. I will certainly come again.”
After finding herself single after a 30-year marriage. Jacqui Pringle, organiser of the event said, “I found out that the dating scene was very different, and not a good different!
“I found out it was all seedy dating sites, full of married men or blokes just wanting to hook up and I know the women are the same. So finding a group called meet-up seemed to be the answer. Meet up evenings are for singles who just want a night out with people who are in the same boat.”
If you would like to join the group, their next meeting is on Tuesday 6th March at The Railway Inn, Westbury, and will continue every other Tuesday. If you are nervous, speak to Jacqui and you can be met in the car park and introduced to the group.
