A group of children from Westbury Junior School took part in a litter pick throughout the town recently.
The school’s community support group, TEAM10, is made up of 17 children from Years 5 and 6, assisted by long-standing former pupils now in Years 7 and 8, cleaned up the pathway between the infants and junior school before moving on to collect litter around Penleigh Park.
Litter picking is a regular activity for the team, who have also previously been involved in painting the graffiti art on the skateboard ramp and planting bulbs in the play area.
“The children are excited to be planting more bulbs in the park, working with David Krzyzosiak, Lead Ranger at Westbury Council, later this month,” said TEAM10 coordinator Susannah Duval.
The team are also working towards an intergenerational planting project with Selwood Housing in the coming months, as well as some fundraising events to raise money for plants for the school and the wider community.
“TEAM10 work to try to support the community in any way they can – litter picking, fundraising, public art projects, supporting the school and more,” said Susannah.
