Westbury & District Cricket Club 1st XI brought the curtain down on the 2026 season with their final fixture against local rivals Trowbridge ending in a frustrating washout, with persistent rain meaning not a ball was bowled.
The first XI finished third from bottom of the West of England Premier League Wiltshire Division. It proved a challenging campaign with several close results going against Westbury, but the side showed plenty of character throughout the season and gained valuable experience competing in a strong division.
The second XI also enjoyed a solid campaign, finishing sixth in Wiltshire League Division 5 to secure a respectable mid-table position. The team provided an important pathway for players looking to develop their cricket and step up through the club.
The standout performance of the season, however, came from the third XI, who enjoyed a superb campaign in Wiltshire League Division 11. A consistently strong season saw them finish runners-up, providing one of the highlights of the year for the club.
With the growth of senior cricket continuing to be matched by the development of the club’s women’s and junior sections, there is a real sense of momentum around Westbury & District Cricket Club.
The club is looking to continue to build on its ambitions both on and off the field, with increased participation, strong community involvement and opportunities for players of all ages and abilities.
The season may be over, but the hard work behind the scenes continues as the club looks to build on the progress made across all three senior sides and continue its development as one of the area’s leading community cricket clubs.
