THIS year’s White Horse Vehicle Show has been cancelled due to a lack of off-site parking and rising costs.
The Westbury and Trowbridge Lions Club, which organise the event, have said that they cannot proceed with this year’s event as due to rising costs the event would not guarantee a “sensible” return.
This popular event sees thousands of spectators come to Westbury to see the 400 plus vehicles on display, from sports cars, to bikes, to vintage cars, static engines and more. Money raised on the day supports good local causes.
A statement from the Westbury Lions Cub reads, “Sadly, due to the loss of parking off site and on the overflow field, and amidst rising insurance and support costs for hosting the event, we have had to take the very difficult decision to cancel this year’s show.
“As a charity focussed on public service, we have to ensure the money we put towards an event of this scale is safe and guarantees a sensible return. After much consideration and reaching out to many local supporters to consider all alternative options, we have concluded that it is not possible to proceed with this year’s event.
“Both Westbury Lions Club and Trowbridge Lions Club are seeking out alternative, low-key events which can continue to contribute to our community service and fundraising efforts. Please follow our Facebook pages for more information in due course. We sincerely apologise for any disappointment this news brings.”
