Older residents in Westbury are being invited to a free event aimed at improving their safety and wellbeing.
The event has been organised by Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service, supported by a range of partners, and will take place in various places in Wiltshire, including Westbury on Wednesday 30th September at the Paragon Hall at 10am until 2pm.
The event will include an opportunity for visitors to have their electric blankets tested and their old slippers exchanged for a free new pair, courtesy of Wiltshire Council and Swindon Borough Council.
As places are limited and only eligible for people aged 65 or over, those who wish to have their electric blanket tested must make an appointment. This will also ensure there are enough slippers. Old and worn slippers can lead to falls, which is why the new pairs are being made available.
There will also be a range of exhibitors on hand to talk to residents, including representatives from Swindon & Wilts Users Network, Warm & Safe Wiltshire, Wiltshire Farm Foods, Bobby Van and Police, Age UK and many more.
