Sat. 17th August. West of England Premier Cricket League: Westbury 149 all out Hinton Charterhouse 26 all out.
Westbury entertained Hinton Charterhouse in the latest West of England League Wiltshire Division hoping to continue their quest in securing second place behind runaway league leaders Marshfield who secured the league title after last week’s win against Swindon.
Westbury made three changes from last week’s sensational win against high flying Devizes with Connor Colbourne, Michael Tuck and Tom Lucas coming in Michael Coles, Andy Carroll and Kayleb Gooderson.
Westbury opened with the regular openers Mill and Gill and they took the total to 11 when Hinton Charterhouse struck by having Gill caught and bowled by their opening bowler Matt Jacob for 4.
Scott then joined Mills at the wicket and they scored steadily but when the total reached 61 Westbury lost their second wicket when Mills was caught brilliantly in the gull by Chris Antrobus off the bowling of the Hinton Charterhouse allrounder Cheal for 37. It was at this time that the Hinton Charterhouse bowlers fought back by taking three wickets for 40 runs with Haggaty (8), Hudson (10) and Clark (12) the ones dismissed. Then Lucas (25) and the lower order took Westbury to 149 all out in the 41st over. Cheal (10-2-31-3) had the best figures.
When Hinton Charterhouse batted they were undone by some sensational fast bowling by having Hinton Charterouse 9 wickets down for 16. After 10 overs Westbury had dismissed Hinton Charterhouse for 26 runs. Richard Oakley (5-1-19-6) had the best figures ably supported by Graham Hudson (5-1-7-4).
