SHOP locally this Christmas! That’s the message from mayor cllr Sheila Kimmins.
“You can make a big difference to the local economy by shopping in Westbury where you can this Christmas,” she said. “A warm welcome is guaranteed when you make the effort to support the businesses in our town.
“The Wednesday Market, held in the High Street, is great fun and has a number of different ideas for presents on offer. And don’t forget that many of the shops and the vets offer gift vouchers.
“If we do not use our local shops, we stand to lose them, so please come and look at what is on offer; Westbury so often does have the answer.
“A thriving shopping environment means that others will think ‘Westbury seems to be a happening town, perhaps I should set up my shop there.’
“Westbury has a selection of shops offering a wide selection of Christmas cards and presents. Think about presents with a long life, a bird feeder for the garden or perhaps, instead of buying something amusing but useless, a homemade gift is the answer. And don’t go to Bath for that Christmas haircut, go local; there are many salons within walking distance of the town’s car parks.
“With many of us struggling financially, this Christmas it is going to need some serious thought. Don’t be afraid to buy second hand, there is so much to offer in our charity shops and it’s better for your wallet and the planet.
“Most of all, remember to enjoy the festive season keep warm and safe.”
