To mark World Alzheimer’s Day on Saturday 21st September, Gracewell of Frome will be hosting two events this month to raise awareness of dementia and the care and support that is available, whilst also championing creative arts for older people.
On 24th September, from 2.30pm, Golden Toes will be joining residents, the team and guests for an interactive afternoon of singing and dancing, and there will also be a complimentary afternoon tea for all to enjoy in the home’s sensory garden. All are welcome.
Then, on 26th September, from 11 am, Gracewell will be hosting a creative arts event for all ages. Again everyone is welcome.
“Local primary school-children will be coming down to take part in arts and crafts and there will also be opportunities for all attendees to see the home’s wonderful resident art exhibition as well,” said Jackie Pool, director of memory care at Gracewell Healthcare.
“World Alzheimer’s Day is an opportunity to raise awareness, highlight issues faced by people living with dementia and demonstrate how we can all work together to overcome them, to help people live well with the condition.
“We are delighted to be promoting ‘creative arts in dementia care’ this year. Our teams have seen first-hand how engaging in arts activities can empower people living with dementia. It enriches life for them and those around them and we have some amazing talent at Gracewell of Frome.
“As an organisation, we are committed to enhancing the quality of life for residents living with dementia or memory loss and each of the care homes have a tailored activities programme, creative art therapies as well as life-skill-stations that help to stimulate the brain, support a healthy lifestyle and promote a sense of wellbeing and purpose.
“Do contact Gracewell of Frome to find out what events they have planned this September, to book a tour or drop in for a tea, coffee or a cold drink. You are all welcome.”
