Members of three Slimming World groups in Westbury have collected 231 bags of clothes they’ve successfully slimmed out of to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Paula Wood, Juliet Morgan and Lisa Lacock, the consultants who run the groups, encouraged members, their friends and families to spring-clean their wardrobes and donate the clothes, shoes and accessories they’ve successfully slimmed out of to generate valuable stock and funds for the Cancer Research UK.
Paula Wood said: “The incredible members of our groups have amazed us with their enthusiasm, dedication and commitment once again! This year’s Big Clothes Throw has been a fantastic success, and we can’t believe just how many bags our members have managed to collect. It’s been so rewarding and we are so proud of the support from our members who turned up to help on the day.”
The groups were taking part in the organisation’s national fundraising campaign, the ‘Big Slimming World Clothes Throw’, which last year raised £1.7million for Cancer Research UK.
Paula continued, “When we told our groups about the campaign they couldn’t wait to take part. Not only is the Clothes Throw a perfect opportunity for all of us to celebrate our slimming success, it is also vital we spread the message that keeping a healthy weight could reduce the risk of developing ten different types of cancer.
“This is why Slimming World chose Cancer Research UK as our national charity partner. We really hope our bag collection will help to increase understanding of how weight affects cancer risk.
“Thanks to Batman for taking time out from saving the world to help us load the bags, and to Chris Payne and the Conservative Club for letting us use their venue for such a worthwhile cause!”
