A TEAM from the local accountancy firm, Gooding Accounts, has committed to raise at least £2,000 for Warminster charity, Wessex Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre.
Sherelyn, Sue, Sharon and Elise have challenged themselves to be completely tea-total for six months from January 1st to June 30th. They’ll even join the Goodings’ grand summer party (celebrating ten years of the firm) without enjoying a single drop of alcohol!
The Sober for 6 team received a friendly welcome when they recently visited the Wessex Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre to find out more about the life-changing service they provide for Wiltshire and beyond.
The charity, which is based just five minutes from Gooding Accounts’ Warminster office, relies completely on fundraising and grants to support the 200 to 300 members who use their services every week.
The care provided by the centre is ongoing and some of their members have been visiting for decades. The centre subsidises therapy sessions, and pledges to provide an affordable therapy plan to ensure everyone in need can benefit from the range of life-changing therapies on offer.
Therapies available include physiotherapy, massage, acupuncture and reflexology and he centre also boasts an oxygen chamber providing oxygen therapy. The centre provides counselling, a lunch club and even singing therapy which is enjoyed every Monday. The centre doesn’t just offer therapy for Multiple Sclerosis, they also provide therapies for those living with a range of other conditions such as; cancer, fibromyalgia, stroke, ME (CFS), sports injuries, skin complaints, autism and cerebral palsy. Family members are also supported in the friendly and comfortable environment, providing them with tools to help care for the individual.
Goodings’ chief operating officer, Elise, said, “It was absolutely fascinating to see the oxygen chamber and hear about the benefits it provides. Whilst using the oxygen chamber can help to keep the symptoms in check, and even in some cases slow the progression of the disease I was surprised to hear how often the therapy was needed to maintain the benefits.”
Client manager Sharon said, “We’re proud to be supporting such a fantastic cause in our local community and hope people will give generously towards the challenge!”
