WESTBURY’S branch of the Royal British Legion is looking to recruit new members from the local area in the new year.
The British Legion, which meets once a month at the Horse and Groom, is inviting people from the town and surrounding villages to join the military support charity.
Chairman Eddie Bridges said, “We’re very keen to welcome new members, and would like to hear from service and ex-service personnel and their families.
“People from Westbury and all surrounding villages are welcome. The British Legion offers help, support, and community to those who have served in the forces themselves, or come from a military family. I served for 25 years myself, and have been on the legion committee since our branch started 34 years ago. Being a member doesn’t mean you have to attend every meeting or be involved with everything we do, but it means we can be here for you if you need us.”
This year’s Poppy Appeal, organised by the Royal British Legion, raised over £7,000 to go towards the military charity.
