WESTBURY Council’s highways, planning and development committee have requested a meeting with Wiltshire Council’s highways department to look at local speeding concerns around Station Road.
At their latest meeting, members heard from a Spinnaker development resident that traffic was speeding at the Station Road / Linden Homes mini roundabout. They also heard from a Kingfisher Drive resident that traffic was speeding on the approach to the zebra crossing.
They discussed and supported both issues and requested that the town council should meet with a Wiltshire Council highways officer on site, to walk the routes and review the concerns.
Committee members further agreed to contribute £500 towards works to provide tactile pacing, bollards and warning signs at the pedestrian crossing at The Mead to inform drivers that pedestrians may be crossing.
The total costs of the works was estimated to be £2,000, the meeting heard, with Westbury Town Council being asked to contribute 25%.
