THE Bratton Primary School scarecrow trail proved to be extremely popular with the local community as people from across the local area walked around Bratton to spot all the various creative Disney themed scarecrows in the village.
The public were asked to vote for their favourite scarecrow with prizes awarded to the top three with an extra prize for the class scarecrow that received the most votes. First place was awarded to Lady and the Tramp; second place went to Pinocchio; and third place was awarded to The Incredibles. The Gazelle class received the most votes for their Finding Nemo scarecrow.
The school says, “It’s been a pleasure to witness so much creativity, and a real sense of community with this event. It was a joy to see such amazing crafting and resourcefulness – well done to everyone who kindly built a scarecrow! We had entries from classes, parents, village residents and local community groups, and were blown away with the level of crafting details and construction, and the public certainly enjoyed voting for their favourite scarecrows.
“There was a constant buzz of footfall in the village, and wonderful to see families of all ages pottering around in the sunshine making memories together, such a joy to witness. This our first ever scarecrow trail, and we hope everyone who attended over the week enjoyed seeing the wonderful creativity from our lovely students, staff, parents and local residents.
“We hope this will become a well-loved community event for years ahead, and we are already in talks for a theme for next year! We have already noted some minor tweaks we would make for next year to make it even bigger and better, but the standard of scarecrows for our first attempt was truly amazing! Thank you to everyone who kindly purchased a trail map and hunted the scarecrows around the village. All the money raised for the maps will go towards purchasing new iPads for the children to use in class.
“And many congratulations to Gazelle class as they received the most votes from the public for their Finding Nemo creation! Well done to all the students, their painted fish and sea life looked amazing blowing in the breeze and was a real crowd pleaser! We also had 20 amazing prize donations from both local and nationwide companies for the lucky trail winners that were pulled out of the hat by Mrs Williams, head teacher. It’s been really lovely to reward members of the public who supported the school with purchasing a trail map and took the time to potter around the village – we hope the lucky 20 enjoy their special prizes!
“Thank you all once again for supporting Bratton Primary School’s first scarecrow trail – we look forward to seeing you all again next year!”
