The “Fighters” team from Westbury Premier Table Tennis Club has won both the West Wilts Premier Division Title and the Melksham Shield KO. The team comprises of David Walton (captain), Lee Phillips and Ian Packford.
The club is particularly proud of their success, because David and Lee have come through the club’s junior coaching scheme. This season they have been mentored by county veteran Ian Packford. The WW Premier Division is also the toughest division in Wiltshire and the surrounding area.
The club, based at Westbury Youth & Development Centre, Eden Vale Road, Westbury, was formed in 1992, by former International Jimmy Lowe, with the aim of developing the table tennis skills of young players.
The club is part of Premier Club the English Table Tennis Association national programme for club development. The club has attained “Clubmark” which covers standards in management, coaching, facilities, duty of care and safeguarding and protecting children.
Junior coaching for beginners and improvers is on Saturday mornings 9.30am to 11.00am, at Westbury Youth & Development Centre. The club says, “Come along and try it, with the help of our experienced table tennis coaches.”
