Westbury Youth’s 5-a-side football tournament returned in style on the weekend of Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd June.
224 teams and over 1,300 players took part as Westbury Youth teams took on others from Wiltshire, Somerset and as far afield as Bournemouth and Wales, from under-7s all the way up to adult ladies.
“The tournament was absolutely incredible and it definitely lived up to the buzz around it,” said Cameron Dawes, one of the organisers. “It has been five years since our last tournament due to Covid and other reasons, but we are back with a bang!
“It’s been described as the best little tournament in Wiltshire – and so it was.
“It ran smooth with only a few delays, but you expect that. It was a very busy weekend and we even sold out of all of our refreshments by around 3pm on Saturday, which we weren’t expecting! The weather was kind, which made it extremely enjoyable for everyone who came. What a weekend it was!
“We will be 100% running again next season and striving towards making the tournament even better.”
Westbury teams won three trophies, with Westbury Youth winning the U10s Cup and the U12s Cup, while Westbury Ladies were the Ladies’ Plate winners.
