DILTON Amateur Gardening Club recently held its annual summer barbecue and was blessed with the sun for the meeting.
Christopher Good reports, “Our August meeting is traditionally a BBQ night and this year it was held at Jill’s. 32 of us enjoyed plenty of food and drink on offer with lots of sausages, beef burgers and chicken, combined with delicious salads and rolls. This was followed by a wonderful array of desserts provided by the members. This is the night you forget you are on a diet!
“The weather was kind to us, blue skies and warm sunshine, but it did get a bit nippy later. Not that this troubled our hardy gardeners!
“There was a quiz on hand to test the brainpower whilst munching your way through the various courses. The questions were multiple choice but tricky as was borne out by the result – the top score being twelve out of fifteen.
“During the evening there was an opportunity to walk round Jill’s lovely garden to discover all its horticultural delights and admire the wonderful tree house. We would like to thank her for letting us use her garden.
“The next meeting is on Friday 2nd September, in Dilton Marsh Memorial Hall at 7.30pm. We will be having a talk on the Wonderful World of Camellias by Jennifer Trehane. Please do come along, you do not need to be a member, all are welcome.”
