THE ever-popular Westbury Lions Club Donkey Derby is back again and Westbury residents can look forward to great family fun day full of donkey races, donkey rides, fair rides for children, stalls and a licenced bar.
The donkey derby is taking place on Sunday 12th June, from midday to 4.30pm at the White Horse Country Park. Adult admission costs £5, teen admission is £1 and children go free! All money raised is used by the Lions to fund causes to help local people.
This year’s event is being sponsored by Daykin Estates. The organisers say, “The event this year should provide lots of fun for everyone including races, donkey rides, tote and fair rides as well as lots of family things to do. We are already looking forwards to seeing the donkeys after their two-year hiatus due to Covid regulations!”
In addition to the fun and games, there will be a fully licensed bar and barbecue, as well as favourites for youngsters including sweets and ice-cream.
Children under 14 weighing less than seven and a half stone can fulfil their racing dreams and take part in a race (with their parents’ permission) by simply calling into the jockey tent on the day. Alternatively, they can be registered in advance by emailing donkeyderby @westburylions.org.uk.
