On a beautiful Sunday, 9th April, 18 members of the Westbury Walkers, led by Rob Hearnden and Gerry White, set out from Marshfield for an 8.5 mile walk on the edge of the Cotswolds along farm tracks and quiet country lanes towards Dyrham.
Splendid views were enjoyed by all and after a coffee stop, the group walked through Dyrham village, having safely crossed the very busy A46 before climbing up outside the deer park and taking a break for lunch enjoying yet another view towards the Severn estuary as a group of buzzards soared in the sky.
After lunch the Cotswold Way was followed for a while, beside which was evidence of a splendid dry stone wall being rebuilt, before branching off into West Littleton, another delightful village. At one point on the walk the early sighting and distinctive singing of a little chiff chaff was appreciated as the group made their way back to the cars.
