WILTSHIRE charity Alzheimer’s Support is looking for walkers to join its annual sponsored walks this Saturday.
An 8.5-mile Walk to Remember on Saturday 10th June starts at 9am in Warminster Park and takes in some of Wiltshire’s loveliest countryside as it leads up and around historic Battlesbury Camp hill fort. There is also a family-friendly Meadow Mile around the town’s lake and nature reserve that is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
Alternatively, the charity’s new Bowood Walk to Remember will also take place on Saturday 10th June at 9am. This is a circular seven mile walk near Calne that will start at Bowood House car park, head around and out of the beautiful grounds into the countryside and then wind back through the estate to finish with medals and refreshments.
Alzheimer’s Support CEO Sarah Marriott said, “We’re very grateful to everyone who has signed up for the walks so far, but we need more walkers!
“We passionately believe in supporting people to live well with dementia through our services including Old Silk Works day club in Warminster, memory cafes in Westbury and Warminster and our wonderful Music for the Mind dementia choir in Westbury. As a charity we would struggle to provide these services without the generosity of our fundraisers.
“As well as being a great day out for walkers of all ages and abilities, every penny raised from the Meadow Mile and Walk to Remember contributes towards our vital work. Please join us – you’ll be supporting people with dementia with each step!”
Entry for both walks is just £12 for adults, £5 for children aged 11 to 16. Children under 11 walk free.
