WESTBURY Town Council were given a boost in their pursuit to clean up the town’s streets after students from Westbury C of E Junior School assisted with the council’s latest litter pick.
TEAM10, the local children’s community action group from the junior school, were joined by parents and other children from the school in trying to improve their local environment with a joint litter picking event on Saturday 26th February.
Susannah Duval, TEAM10 coordinator and year 5 teacher at Westbury Junior School said, “The children from TEAM10 are keen to do whatever they can to help their community and decided that helping with the litter pick would improve the area for everyone.
“They thoroughly enjoyed the event and worked very hard alongside the other ‘pickers’ who were very grateful for their involvement.
“TEAM10 are keen to do more work, along with their community, to continue improving things in the town. By the end of the event, a transit van was filled with litter, which the councillors took away to a local refuse centre.
A local resident added, “I was amazed to see how committed these children are and what amazing work they are doing.”
