THE Duke in Bratton was commended at the FreeFrom Eating Out Awards 2015 in the ‘Pub Restaurant’ category.
The popular village pub was shortlisted for the award back in October for its efforts in providing a ‘freefrom’ menu.
The finals took place on November 17th at Food Matters Live at the Excel in London. Landlady Lyn Hobbs said, “It was a good day with lots of interesting things to see.
“We were really surprised to win ‘commended’ especially when we found out who we were up against. It’s a great achievement for our team.
“Its great to be recognised for what you do and here at the Duke we want everyone to be able to come and have a variety of meal choices regardless of their allergies or intolerances.”
The judges said, “A friendly, welcoming, country pub. A family-run concern where they have made a huge effort to provide a safe, enjoyable dining experience for those with special dietary needs.
“Couldn’t fault their positivity and enthusiasm and their attempts to be inclusive with food. The pub is strong on gluten-free and nut-free options, and they also offer egg-free and lactose-free dishes too.”
