Westbury is preparing to welcome a packed programme of events as the Westbury Festival returns from 14th to 27th July.
Book talks, musical performances and history walks are all among the events on offer.
Colourful bunting, made by a group of volunteers, has been draped across the town centre to mark the occasion.
Festival highlights include an evening with author Raynor Winn and a screening of the film made from her best-selling book The Salt Path, alongside a top comedy night with acclaimed national comedians, free lunchtime concerts, evenings of opera, jazz and other live music, arts & crafts sessions and a wide range of talks and hands-on workshops.
Organisers are promising ‘something for everyone’ – from Festival Rhyme Time sessions for babies and toddlers to a one-woman show, Where is Mrs Christie? unravelling the mystery disappearance of Agatha Christie; and from an afternoon tea with vintage music to a ukulele workshop.
The programme also features a Westbury Heritage Walk, tours of Leighton House, insightful talks on songwriting and becoming an artist and even a board game cafe.
Lisa McGowan, an organiser for the Westbury Festival, said, “We very much hope the community will support us by buying tickets and coming along to the many free events on offer. Thanks to the funds we’ve raised through the quiz night, sponsorships and two generous grants, we’ve been able to keep ticket prices at what we believe is a very affordable level – where else can you enjoy a night of comedy with four acts for just a tenner, or take in a lunchtime concert for free?
“Some events are already sold out, but many still need your support, and it would be fantastic to see a completely sold-out programme!
“You can pick up a programme in shops in the town, at The Laverton, and at the library. Tickets can be bought online or in person at South West Hearing, who are generously running our box office.
“We’re incredibly grateful to our sponsors – Bath Domestic Appliances, Westbury Town Council and the many local businesses who’ve donated raffle prizes to help with our fundraising.”
